One of the things I love to see updated is the Android Market and though several notable changes have been made since it made it to version 3.0, now we have some of the biggest changes yet with the addition of the plus one button. Now if you really love an app there is an another way to give it the thumbs up than writing a review that is likely to never be read by anyone. What you may be noticing is Google is making an effort to proliferate the plus platform and the plus one button across the web and backed by Google Search that is no small thing. New security features are another big change as one can now add a pin to their market account. Several design aesthetics have been added as well: new icon, and click to read permissions. HTC Pledges Support For The Android Platform

HTC's Peter Chou is one my favorite figures in the tech world and I tend to watch what he says. I often start my work day with a Google search of his name. Many have been wondering what his true feelings are on the Motorola deal despite HTC making statements saying they approved. Today Peter Chou stated that Google made it "very very clear" they were committed to HTC and this would not be changing because they purchased Motorola. Lets toss the kooks out of here folks. Ask yourselves for a second why did Google buy a failing Motorola Mobility. If you think it was to get into the hardware business I would ask that you give that some more thought. If your going to pay for a company at that price over the actual stock value the also failing LG would have been a better deal if I just want to make hardware. It was for the patent portfolio. Google can now defend itself expertly against Apple and it's evil consortium's advances. Furthermore Peter Chous says:

"It's not the Operating System it's the Ecosystem"

and again:

"We think we can find a way to differentiate to add value,  but at the same time leverage our partners Google and Microsoft, since we have such a great relationship with them."

This doesn't sound like a man who is afraid. I don't trust the commentators as much as I trust Mr. Chou. If he has no concerns with the Google/Microsoft deal then neither should I. I think  if he had an issue with it he would say nothing rather than say the opposite. I end my commentary with another quote from Mr. Chou.

"The acquisition is more to enhance the Google patent portfolio, to support us, to protect us, so this is good news."

Samsung Nexus Prime Dropping this October??!!

Webster's Dictionary defines a nexus as "a connection or series of connections linking two or more things". Smartphones have become the one thing that allows us to connect every aspect of our lives. Google's Nexus series of devices are released once a year and allow Google and a manufacturer of their choice to showcase Android's newest operating system and cutting edge technology that's available. The HTC Nexus One was the first phone in this series and delivered a AMOLED screen and 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The Nexus S was the next in line, made by Samsung, the S featured a 4" Super AMOLED display and NFC chips support. Now its that time of year again as the release of the Nexus Prime approaches. There are still alot of questions to be answered but if the rumor mill today is to be believed some information is already available to us.

Here is what we know. The one fact that has stayed constant through out all the rumors this year is that this phone will pack a 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus HD Display with a 1280x720p resolution. This will be an upgraded version of the display on the Galaxy S II and the only question is whether true HD will be ready to go by October. This screen tech is made by Samsung so this fact definitely puts them in the lead as maker of the Prime. Which brings us to the next part of the rumor, that the Nexus Prime will be announced in October in preparation for the usual onslaught of Christmas phone releases. October has been kicking around for a bit and it seems this date has been further confirmed. The other good news here is mention of the beastly processor that the Prime will bring to the party. How does a 1.5GHz dual core processor sound to you folks? HHHMMMM Huge HD display, unlocked bootloader,dual core, Icecream Sandwich Goodness. Sounds like Christmas will be coming for Halloween to all of us Google fans this year!!!!!

WE Are Armed: Kailash Sankar Joins The Revolution

Welcome Kailash!


A while back I was very concerned about some of the graphics design needs for our little start up. I put out a cry for help on Google Plus ( gplus.to/MarvinFerrell ) for graphics designers to give the Revolution a hand and got no response...crickets... Well a wise man once (my old bossman rjmjr69 of ACSyndicate) said to me "right place right time" and he actually turned out to be right. What occurred was Google released games which caused a sort of butterfly effect. I immediately took Google to task on their permissions policy  ( https://plus.google.com/116222833568410151476/posts/3apRnJHRzUY ) Causing them to make a promise to change the things that the community saw wrong with it. All of this was started by this article (which quickly became our most read article) and a close friend of mine leaving Google + because of the invasive permissions instituted by Google and their game development partners (Rovio, Zynga...etc). Anyhow I was able to get Google to take a look at what they were doing (kudos to the engineers on their plus team they are great guys and they care about the community). While all this was going on, pardon the long narrative here, a young man named Kailash Sankar was inspired by me taking the stand and immediately began working on the graphics you now see on this site and the wallpapers that people are falling in love with. I cannot say enough good things about the kid he has a great spirit and is just as committed as I Joshua Keene and the rest of the creative geniuses involved with Androidian3VOlution. The artwork you will see will be from him and he is working hard to get the designs done. These designs will soon be on t-shirts many of which I will give away to some of our supporters. This is NOT just a blog. Anyone can contribute. It is about the community and making money is necessary for us to continue but is not our primary goal by any stretch of the imagination.
That being said I want to say thank you to Kailash who i refer to as "Kai". Also I would like to thank all of you. We have only been around a week and already we have really touched off something that can certainly fit the bill of a revolution. Our little page is extraordinarily popular. I want to say thank you to the folks for the kind words and also the unkind ones. Nothing motivates me more than hate and if it were not for hate I would not have such a profound understanding of what love is and for that I am grateful. Welcome Kailash to the revolution and enjoy his work. The next post will be the release of a wonderful new wallpaper in celebration of another record breaking day we had on yesterday. Guess what? We have already broken that record today and we will keep on breaking them and do what we do best. Write and share on the subject of Android. A subject we are very very passionate about. I will be talking more with Kailash and giving you more information on just who this guy is soon. He's a busy man.

Google buys Patent Troll Spray called Motorola

Troll Spray For The Patent Trolls

Websters Dictionary defines a patent as "a grant made by a government that confers upon the creator of an invention the sole right to make, use and sell that information for a set period of time." The idea of a patent has been traced all the way back to 500BC in Greece when anyone who thought up an idea that made them money had the right to keep all the profits for one year. Somehow I doubt the ancient Greeks had a tablet or cell phone in mind when they created this precedent. We have covered the Apple vs Google vs Microsoft patent war on our site over the last few weeks, Kidromulous even predicted that Google would purchase Motorola on our site days ago. Now it is official Google has bought Motorola for $12.5 billion and it has not taken long for the Internet to erupt in rumors and speculation as to what this will mean for Google. In order to see what the purchase will mean We need to look at why this just happened.

2600 patent infringement cases are filed annually in the United States with an average cost of $3-10 million per case, I don't think I have enough room in this article to write how many zeros that equals out too. Patents were invented to prevent intellectual theft and allow the people who dream up a concept to profit from it. Over the years patents have developed into an offensive strategy in many fields that companies use to slow up and hold back competitors. This is not a new strategy with the Netherlands going so far as to abolish patents from 1869-1912. Google has been behind the 8-ball in the patent game for a while. This has cost Google and its business partners in both headaches and capital. This morning Google announced that it is purchasing Motorola Mobility as what can easily be labeled as a strike back against these patent trolls. Why Moto you ask? Motorola has been around since 1928 and has 24,500 patents granted and pending. This one fact is the big reason behind this purchase. The other is that in the first quarter of this year Motorola Mobilty posted a $89 million loss. Moto Mobility is one of the few Android companies not turning a profit currently. This is why Google has purchased Moto over other companies that produce Android phones and tablets. HTC made more then the purchase cost of Moto in the first quarter of this year. Google bought Moto because it served two purposes, 1. Their patent portfolio is now large enough to help protect their interests and 2. They bought Moto for a song. Nortell received $4.5 billion from Microsoft, Apple, RIM etc last month for only 882 patents. Talk about using your money wisely.Many in the Android community including manufacturers are worried that this sale will impact the free and open status of Android and that Google is going to go the Apple route by buying up hardware. This is simply not true. Larry Page himself had this to say about the Nexus situation,

We have this strategy where we have this Nexus program, and we have this lead device strategy. That strategy has worked quite well to help focus the team.

What we do is that we select each -- around Christmastime of each year -- we select a manufacturer that we work very closely with to release a device in that time frame. That includes, also, semiconductor companies and all of the components that go in the device.

Essentially the teams huddle together in one building. They jointly work in these development efforts -- they go on for nine to 12 months. And ultimately at the

holiday season, or right before it, devices pop out that are based on this effort.

We don't expect that to change at all. The acquisition is going to be run as a separate business. They will be part of that bidding process, and part of that lead development process. And obviously Android remains open to other partners to use as they are today.

This sale while giving Google access to Motorola's technology is not for Google to get in the manufacturing business. Motorola will not push out other manufacturers making Android phones. It is for Google to gain leverage in the battle that is patent law these days. So don't look at this sale with fear that Motoblur will find its way onto your device but look at it as Google arming themselves with some serious ammo to fight back in the courts for the rest of the year.

Google Buys Motorola For 12.5 Billion Did I Not Tell You So?

Okay so I'm feeling really great this morning. I said it on the record what Google should do to end the patent dispute.. That's exactly what Google did, buy out Motorola. Now that I've made that call I will tell you that Google WILL not turn to handset manufacturing competing with Apple directly. People are jumping their guns. This is about patents and tablets not phones. Early reports are Google will remain open and Motorola will continue to Manufacturer devices as an independent entity under Google's control. Larry page says: "Many hardware partners have contributed to Android's success" and again "it will work with all of them to deliver outstanding user experiences." End quote... blah blah blah it's the patent portfolio Google wanted and its egg on the face of Apple and Microsoft who payed almost 3.5 Billion for patents while Google got a whole corporation. The oldest OEM in the world. As I have stated previously the patents are a treasure trove and this is the best thing Google could have done for the Android Community and they did at a premium price. I honestly believe Google will not shift the Android business model or the ecosystem in a major way. We shall see. I would bet on me... after all I did get it right on this one.

Games Have Hit Google Plus.... I Don't Know Whether To Laugh Or Cry

What is the thing you hate the most about Facebook. The horrible theme?, The Over abundance of trolls?, The annoying interface?, The confusing changes they make to the news feed?, The Perpetual beta that it seems to be?.... How about games all over your feed? That latter is the one of the things I hate the most about Facebook and Zuck and company don't care. They have made a pretty penny with them and they aren't going to stop their unholy alliance with the likes of Zynga any time soon. So far Google Plus has been a breath of fresh air in that regard. Dah well... thats over. Today Google will roll out games on our beloved social network. Google totally intends to not make games an annoyance and I love this. Below I have included a blurb from their blog post that sort of explains it all but before we get to that let me share with you some of the games that will be available.

So Good folks lets see how it goes and please tell me exactly how you feel about the subject. It seems that Google will stay out of our way with the games. Oh yeah and here's the promised blurb from a blog post on the subject:


"When you’re ready to play, the Games page is waiting—click the games button at the top of your stream. You can see the latest game updates from your circles, browse the invites you’ve received and check out games that people you know have played recently. The Games page is also where your game accomplishments will appear. So you can comfortably share your latest high score—your circles will only see the updates when they’re interested in playing games too.
If you’re not interested in games, it’s easy to ignore them. Your stream will remain focused on conversations with the people you care about."

Google leaks Its Own Search Update??

Search App Refinements from the Folks at Mountain View

Google Search is the most used search engine in the world today. It receives several hundred million search requests everyday. Think about that, several hundred MILLION! If you are reading this blog then chances are you have an Android device that is made to Google Search all day! For all these searches Google has not updated its mobile search engine app in almost a year, 10 months to be exact. From the looks of it, that is all bout to change.

A new update to the Google Search has been outed by surprisingly it seems Google its self. An update was posted this morning to its mobile blog and just as quickly taken down. This update showed that not only is Google working on a new Search app but that it should be here any day. Although the post was only up a short time some information can be gleaned. There will be some changes to the Search UI to make it more user friendly, faster and more consistent searches, and results based upon your location. These results will also be specific to the country you are currently in and will allow you to delete your search history with a long press and hold. The update will be coming for anyone on Android 2.2+ so keep an eye out, the folks at Mountain View will not sit on this for long! Remember you heard it here first!!!
