Sense 2.3.4 Kernel Source in our hands! Your EVO/3VO is salivating!

Well if you don't know the Android 2.34 kernel source is out there and it's making the rounds. Yeah I know a whole ton of stuff has been going on in Android and we have been slightly MIA but I'll address that shortly. The important point here is that I and Virus from TeamSynergy were chatting and what this means is that Ziggy's kernel for Android 2.34 is coming to Eternity and Synergy ROMS (of course to all the roms on their platform as well). This is exciting news for me because the versions of Eternity ROM (still unreleased) that I have had the pleasure of testing have been absolutely stunning on the stock kernel. What this means once Ziggy is finished is probably some of the best ROM/Kernel combinations the dev community has ever seen. Over the months working with Virus I have learned this guy is really really good. Better than I imagined he was..... hmmm have you guys heard of Sense 3.5...Lot's of exciting stuff to come people. A whole boat load of it.

Tabletpalooza!!! Samsung and Lenovo Have A Busy Day!

There was alot of news on the tablet front today with multiple Manufacturers releasing Android tablets at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin. The tablet world is swiftly becoming crowded so lets have a look at what Samsung and Levono are doing to distance themselves from the rest.

Samsung's big tablet news today centers around the announcement of the Galaxy 7.7 Tab. The 7.7 is going to be the updated version of Sammy's original 7" tablet. They have done some serious work to update this tablet and it slots nicely in into their lineup of 8"and 10" that have already been announced or released. The 7.7 will have the first Super AMOLED Plus screen in a tablet, yes that is 7.7" of SA+ display goodness!!! It will be running Android 3.2 Honeycomb, have a 1.4GHz dualcore processor, a 3.2MP rear camera with flash as well as a 2MP front facing unit, and will be not only 7.89mm thick, it will only weigh 335 grams. The 7.7 will have full 1080HD playback, gyro sensor, flash support, accelerometer, and a really cool feature in Universal Remote functionality so you can run your whole entertainment system off your tablet!! There will be support for both LTE and HSPA+ and a 5100 mAh battery will be onboard to provide hours of use.

The Lenovo IdeaPad A1 tablet is also checking in at 7" and will check in at only $199! This tablet will not blow you away in the specs department but I have to admit for the money it has some very nice features. As stated it will have a 7" screen showing off Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has a 1GHz singlecore Cortex A8 chip with a 3MP rear camera and a VGA front facing unit. It has both microSD and full size SD card slots on the bottom and is 10mm think and weighs in at 14 oz. Lenovo has already stated up front that this tablet will not be upgraded to Honeycomb however it does have access to the Android market unlike alot of tabs in this price range. The $199 version will pack 8GB of storage while 16GB can be yours for $249. If a nice smooth well built tablet for a small amount of money is what you are looking for this might just be the tablet for you!

Amaze 4G is Amazing

We recently reported on the upcoming HTC Ruby which will become the Amaze 4G on T-Mobile here , now thanks to a recent leak by our friends at TmoNews we can confirm alot of specs and show you some nice pics.

The Amaze 4G shows that HTC learned some lessons from the Sensation. The Sensation was accused of being laggy in ways that the Evo 3D was not and most will attribute this to the large RAM bump the Evo 3D received. The Amaze 4G is hitting the ground running as HTC is not a company to make the same mistake twice. The Amaze will feature a 4.3" QHD display at 960x540 resolution. The processor is a beefed up 1.5GHz dualcore processor which makes this the most powerful chipset HTC has shipped so far. The phone will have Android 2.3 and Sense 3.5 and an 8MP camera around back. The RAM has been bumped to 1GB and the Amaze will have 16GB of internal storage. No release date is known at this time but the phone looks to be a monster and I for one am loving the rounded corners. Stay tuned and for now enjoy the pics from Mr Blurrycam!

Droid Bionic Already Rooted!!!!

The Droid Bionic is one of the most eagerly anticipated phones this year and Verizon customers have been waiting a while for this one( cough, cough Verizon!). Some have been worried that the Motorola locked bootloader would not allow the use of aftermarket software on this phone but it seems those concerns can be put to rest.

mydroidworld.com is reporting the good news that the recent Droid 3 exploit not only roots that phone but allows root access to be achieved on the Bionic too( the # symbol on the screenshot above means root has been achieved)!! The exploit worked on a number of Moto phones so it seemed only logical to attempt it on the Bionic as well, the only question now is how safe and secure the root access is. That will have to wait untill everyone gets their hands on the phone on September 8th!

  • 4.3-inch 540x960 qHD display (meaning there's no 4.5-inch screen here)
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video capture
  • Front-facing camera that'll likely be of the VGA persuasion
  • 16GB internal memory
  • 16GB microSD card preinstalled
  • 1GB RAM
  • Webtop apps similar to what's found on the Atrix
  • MotoPrint support for wireless printing
  • 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot support for up to eight devices

Amazon's Tablet Seen in the Wild!!!

The rumor's of the impending release of Amazon's tablet have been all over the Internet lately. The story is that this tablet will be very nice but will absolutely beat a certain price point and bring tablets to the masses. HP eat your heart out! Now one has been seen and touched in the wild by TechCrunch's MG Siegler and what he is reporting is very interesting to say the least.

The Amazon tablet he handled will come in a 7" size which looks to do battle with the upcoming Nook Color 2. The 7" will be released and if it is successful they have a 10" version ready to follow. The tablet is very similar in form to the Blackberry Playbook and will feature a multitouch screen and no capacitive buttons. The tablet will be running Android, only it will not be the tablet Android we know and love. It will be a heavily skinned version of Android prior to 2.2 and will not receive updates to Gingerbread or even Honeycomb. It seems Amazon is taking open source literally and is not working with Google at all on this tablet. There is no Android market app since Amazon is using its own app store in place of this( However my question is how will all the apps made to run on 2.2+ perform?) The tablet will also seamlessly integrate all sorts of Amazon features such as music on the Amazon Cloud Player, books on Kindle and movies on Amazon Instant Video. The OS is thickly skinned and like the Nook Color doesn't feel much like Android at all, which might not be a bad thing the only question is how user friendly it is. Updates to the OS will come directly from Amazon and will not have anything to do with Google.

MG Seigler thinks that the tablet will have a single core processor and 6GB of internal storage. This looks to be a very interesting experiment for the consumer. We have seen the Nook which is also running Android become pretty popular as a somewhat tablet replacement when ported to run the Android app store. Now Amazon is going to bring us a tablet at a $250 price point that will not look like any Android tablet we know. It will not update when Google tablets do and it will not feature the Market we know and love. It will however be supported by one of the biggest sources of Media out there and seamlessly integrate Amazon music and movies and come with a free upgrade to Amazon Prime. What do you guys think, will it be worth the risk? Sound off in the comments and let us know!!

My Touchpad has landed!!

I was one of the lucky ones that managed to somehow score a HP Touchpad during the firesale for a low low price of $99. Then the wait began. First Amazon cancelled a bunch of orders but I was still safe. Then when it was about to ship Hurricane Irene blew through and all mail in my area stopped! So finally today my HP Touchpad arrived. I know alot of people are saying why buy this tablet and what are you going to do with it now?

I have been wanting to purchase a tablet but with a nice laptop and a Android phone it is hard to justify spending $400+ on a tablet. However $99 I can definitely handle. Now I have a 10" tablet with a dualcore processor, front facing camera and Flash support. Yes there is no rear facing camera but who is really running around taking pictures with their tablet? And yes HP has walked away from webOS so further support is sketchy at best, although rumors are floating around of Samsung being interested in the OS which could make things interesting. The Android developer community however, is not going to let this tablet go quietly into the night and that was a big reason in my purchase.

RootzWiki has an entire team working on porting Android to the Touchpad( it helps that is is running the internals as many Android tablets) with the plan being to first get Gingerbread up and running and then jump on the Honeycomb bandwagon. Then the big news, some of the greatest minds in Android the team behind CM7 have thrown their hat in the ring and are working hard at getting Cyanogen running. They even have a video showing the tablet booting up but that is about all. I myself am a big fan of webOS so I would love a dualboot option where I can keep both OS's on the tablet. Stay tuned as I will be writing about my experience getting my Touchdroid up and running!!!

US Dept of Justice Puts the Kabosh on AT&T and T-Mobile Merger!!

In March of this year AT&T announced plans to buy out rival T-Mobile. This merger would make AT&T the largest provider of cellular service in the United States effectively leapfrogging Verizon. Of course Sprint and Verizon were not big fans of this maneuver and the companies particularly Sprint have been quite vocal in their opposition. Now it seems that the United States Government has some issues as well.

Bloomberg is reporting today that the US Department of Justice has filed an antitrust complaint to stop this merger immediately. If the merger does not go through it would be a very bad day for AT&T since they will owe T-Mobile $3billion in the case of the deal not working. AT&T has promised alot of jobs to the American worker in the merger but it seems the DOJ needs a little more convincing and feel that the merger would result in “in higher prices, poorer quality services, fewer choices and fewer innovative products for the millions of American consumers who rely on mobile wireless services in their everyday lives.”

The FCC also issues a statement-“By filing suit today, the Department of Justice has concluded that AT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile would substantially lessen competition in violation of the antitrust laws. Competition is an essential component of the FCC’s statutory public interest analysis, and although our process is not complete, the record before this agency also raises serious concerns about the impact of the proposed transaction on competition. Vibrant competition in wireless services is vital to innovation, investment, economic growth and job creation, and to drive our global leadership in mobile. Competition fosters consumer benefits, including more choices, better service and lower prices” Julius Genachowski, chairman, FCC

Not to be left out here is what AT&T Senior VP Wayne Watts has to say-
"We are surprised and disappointed by today's action, particularly since we have met repeatedly with the Department of Justice and there was no indication from the DOJ that this action was being contemplated. We plan to ask for an expedited hearing so the enormous benefits of this merger can be fully reviewed. The DOJ has the burden of proving alleged anti-competitive affects and we intend to vigorously contest this matter in court. At the end of the day, we believe facts will guide any final decision and the facts are clear. This merger will:

· Help solve our nation's spectrum exhaust situation and improve wireless service for millions.
· Allow AT&T to expand 4G LTE mobile broadband to another 55 million Americans, or 97% of the population;
· Result in billions of additional investment and tens of thousands of jobs, at a time when our nation needs them most.
We remain confident that this merger is in the best interest of consumers and our country, and the facts will prevail in court.
"

It seems that right now noone knows that this merger will mean for the US consumer and the Government is not comfortable letting it do through without some more research. Rest assured that this is only the first
strike in what is sure to be a long battle. With $3billion at stake AT&T will not go quietly into the night!!

Irene Can't Stop all this Galaxy S II Goodness for AT&T and T-Mobile!!

For months now Android fans in the US have watched and waited. Waited for one of the biggest Android phones of the year to reach our shores and not even Hurricane Irene can hold it back for long! Samsung held their big event today in New York City to unveil three versions of GSII. Kidromulous already reported on the Sprint version here and now for the AT&T and T-Mobile versions.

Thankfully for my typing hand both AT&T and T-Mobile kept it simple in naming this device and just went with Galaxy S II branding for bother versions. The AT&T GSII will be releasing Sept. 18th and will sport all the specs we have come to know and love. The phone will be packing a 1.2GHz dualcore processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 4G HSPA+ radio,8MP rear camera w/2MP front camera,1080p HD video support, HDMI out and 1650 mAh battery. The AT&T GSII will come with a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display which may come as a disappointment to some. Keep in mind that the Infuse already has the 4.5" display and the smaller battery and screen keep the phone down to a very slim 8.89mm.

The T-Mobile GSII is a little harder to write up, it seems that their version was not quite ready for the show and was not able to be demo'd. They did have a version on display and it showed off some very nicely rounded corners and a softer look. The T-Mobile version will be equipped with the larger 4.52 Super AMOLED display, 8MP rear and 2MP front camera combo w/ 1080p HD video support, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1.2 GHz dualcore processor, HSPA+ 4G radio, WiFi calling, and a large number of preloaded apps. There is no actual release date or final specs for weight and width reveled at the show.

Samsung is already showing off numerous docks and accessories for these phones so you will be able to buy gear to your heart's content. The big news here is that this phone is finally concrete and everyone can start checking to see when your contract upgrade is due!!

HP to make more Touch Pads?

So HP has seen the light and decided to make one final run of TouchPads to help meet demand. These extra pads will reportedly appear in the next few weeks and honeslty I have to say I'm quite pleased with the decision and not because I'm excited to see Cyanogen Mod running on a WebOS tablet but because I'm still kind of excited about WebOS. There are still good people very dedicated to the WebOS software platform not to mention HP themselves who have not abandoned software at all only hardware production (there seems to be some confusion about this.) Perhaps I will get my hands on one this time around. One thing we don't know is exactly how many they will produce.

This monster will pack a 4.52 inch Super AMOLED and the 1.2 GHz Exynos processor. How does this change things for you? Especially with the rumor that Verizon may hold exclusivity rights (at least for a time) to the the Samsung Prime phone. Have you guys considered multiple manufacturers for the Prime? The Nexus Prime To Be Verizon Exclusive named Droid Prime???

Verizon for the Win!!!!

After breaking news yesterday on the soon to be announced Samsung Galaxy S II 4G LTE it seems that this phone had more secrets to reveal. To the heartbreak of many Verizon customers the announcement was made that Big Red would not be picking up the Galaxy S II. The reason given by Verizon corporate was the lineup of upcoming releases had no place for the GSII. Well now the real reason for this decision has been reveled and it will be worth the wait! Read on for details.

The Galaxy S II LTE will come with a 4.65" Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.5GHz dualcore processor,Android 4.0 Icecream Sandwich and 4G LTE radios. These specs match up very closely to what we know about the Nexus Prime and now for the big news! Not only is Verizon getting this phone but they will be getting it in October and it will be a Verizon exclusive!! Rumor has it that the phone will be branded the Droid Prime however this is certainly not fact yet. First off the Droid Bionic is releasing very soon and Verizon does not make a habit of dropping multiple flagship "Droid" branded phones that close together. Second is the fact that this has long been rumored to be a Nexus Device, calling the phone the Droid Prime would make it a Verizon exclusive(and we know the ICS Nexus will be on other carriers). Maybe there is another Nexus device lurking out there? More likely we are jumping the gun on the name of this phone and it will settle out to be the Nexus Prime. This phone will be packing some serious specs and looks to do battle with the Iphone 5 on Verizon since they will be dropping at about the same time. With both of these phones both Verizon and the customers win as they will have the pick of the best the Android and iOS has to offer right now. The real question for us Verizon Android users is will this phone bring us the stock Android experience (which if it is a Nexus device it should be stock android) or will it be skinned in Touchwiz and crammed with the usual Big Red bloat? Here's to hoping Big Red leaves this phone in its stock Android state. Either way it looks like all of us on Verizon will get the first crack at the very best that Samsung and Android have to offer this year and that should make for some very happy campers in Big Reds camp!

Purple EVO 3D On The Way

So I reported early last week that a white version of my favorite smart phone would be coming to the shack. Well it appears that HTC wants to push the envelope and further differentiate their handsets from the rest of the pack with wild colors. Color is an important choice to have for some folks and though Black and White is what we are used to being offered how about purple? Well BestBuy will be getting the purple version of the super phone very soon. Keep in mind this is the future of HTC hardware several phones will be coming in some unique and wild colors another way to customize your experience. I love choices... give me more.

Lenovo Ideapad K Review

Well i have spent quite a few days with the Lenovo Idepad and Honeycomb (Android 3.1) and I think I'm finally ready to give my opinion on what is exactly right and what is exactly wrong with the Ideapad K. It should be noted I was slow to get a tablet. Mostly because I couldn't make up my mind and also in part because I just wasn't sold on the usefulness of one of the things when considering the bundle of money they are asking you to drop to get your hands on one.

I chose Ideapad K for the reason that most people would have left it on the shelf. The fact that it's rather early in the tablet's life cycle actually was a plus to me. I'm a fan of Lenovo's products and I would rather gamble on what they will do than pick the lackluster tablets that are already established aside from the Asus Eepad. Most looks i saw at the tablet previous to buying it did not do it a lot of justice. The main complaint that I have with the tab is the software needs an update desperately. A lot of the problems are the ones I see inherent with Android 3.1 and I can only imagine what 3.0 was like. The tablet decides to reboot occasionally on it's own which is not so bad because it takes about 1 second to boot back to a useable state, however if your working on something this could ruin your line of thought and cost you progress on important work. I am confident Lenovo has software updates in the works and they have already released one that I installed upon removing the tablet from the box. I do not want to put a lot of weight on this aspect of the tablet and that is why i placed it at the beginning of the review. Small gripe that doesn't occur often enough to be a frustration.

The 10 inch Ideapad weighs in at 1.65 pounds which is considered a little hefty in the tablet world. I don't find this complaint valid. I think it feels great in the hand especially with the lenoveesque soft touch back which actually makes it look quite a bit like the ideapad branded notebooks. I heard complaints about sound but in the 32 GB version that I have the sound is actually excellent.
The grip the back provided is sufficient though not the best and it comes in different colors mine being charcoal grey as you can see there in the image. I won't spend a lot of time on camera here. Who buys a tablet to take pictures. The camera was standard I actually didn't think some of the shots i was able to get from its rear facing 5MP camera were half bad.

Bloatware?

I don't call the software packed with the Ideapad bloatware it hardly gets in the way and cab be uninstalled. The one most worthy of note was social touch which aggregates the calendar, email, facebook and twitter in one easy to use app. It has some aesthetic value for sure but a few changes are in order to make it a totally useful application. I use it daily myself. Bottom line the Ideapad comes packed with some great software to get you started. If you like the stock android gallery and etc simply remove Lenovo's and for the record the e reader they pack in is quite useless. The 4GB of free storage from ArcSynch was a nice touch.

The Verdict

The Ideapad gives a decent Honeycomb experience and it's quite early in the game (less than a week) to be overly critical of the tab. It has all the things you'd expect. There is a fairly thick level of bezel around the screen and at the top the front facing camera is easy to see. On the left side you will find the mic hole, power button, volume rocker, and sd card slot. On the bottom is the HDMI out and 3.5 mm headphone jack. Unfortunately the power supply plugs in here which is annoying at times. One of my favorite coolness factor things on the right side of the tablet is a home button which for a while i thought served very little purpose in reality this is a touchpad! Swiping down is like hitting the back button and swiping up pulls up settings menus in most apps. Press the key and it takes you back to the default home screen. This feature actually comes in handy when your holding the tablet in your hand and doing things because you don't have to remove a hand from the tablet to hit honeycomb's onscreen back button. Nice touch.

Lenovo has simplified Honeycomb and overall I'm quite impressed. I was able to find a 32 GB version for 450$ you can't beat that anywhere. The one i'm reviewing here at a 32 GB hard drive and i must say this tablet is a worthy contender. We will see what Lenovo does in the software update that takes this tablet to 3.2 and we think this is a great first run leading up to it's bigger brother the Lenovo Thinkpad. The 9 hours of battery life I get was sufficient for me as well as the overall attractiveness. I don't really need a USB port but if you do look elsewhere. Very nice tablet for the money overall. I'm waiting on the HTC Puccini and I will be using this one everyday in the meantime. Overall a very good tablet lets just hope the the developer community takes notice because when they do I think they will find a beast within.

Samsung to Unveil LTE Goodness at IFA!!!

Samsung has a full house of LTE!!!!

IFA is one of the largest consumer electronic shows of the year. The show is running from Sept 2nd untill the 7th. Samsung as already revealed that they will be making a rather large announcement at this show as we reported here. Now it seems that Samsung has showed it's hand a few days early! Read on to see what is in store for us!

A few days ago I reported that Verizon will not be releasing the GSII along with every other carrier in the United States. Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T will all be releasing versions at about the same time while Verizon will be left out of the party. However it seems that this phone might be too good to pass up. Samsung has announced a beefed up version of the GSII that is not only packing a 4G LTE radio but will also come with upgraded a dual core processor on board. The GSII will be shipping with a Samsung sourced 1.2GHz dualcore processor. This new version will be rocking a 1.5GHz dualcore chipset in addition to the speeds that LTE can deliver. A recent leak showed off a 4G LTE equipped GSII in Korea called the Celox, might this be the phone we speak of or could it be mysterious Samsung Stratosphere or just maybe the Nexus Prime??

The other big announcement is that the 8.9" Galaxy Tab is finally being announced and with LTE radio to boot!! Not only is the new 8" tab packing 4G but it also is going to be shipping with the 1.5GHz dualcore chipset. This tablet will slot in place very nicely between the 7" and 10" Galaxy Tabs and should be a shoo in for a Verizon release with the 4G LTE radio all on board. All that is left to do now is wait and see what Samsung has to say in the official announcement later this week. One this is for sure, this week is looking bright for Android fans!!!

Verizon Galaxy S II Cancelled???

The Samsung Galaxy S II has been one of the most highly anticipated of the year. Samsung released the first Galaxy series of phones across all carriers in slightly different form factors. It was assumed that the same process would be followed with the release of the GSII. We all know what happens when you assume something and it seems this has been proven true again.

Today the Wall Street Journal broke a story that confidential sources informed them that the GSII would NOT be releasing on Verizon. A Verizon spokeswoman named Brenda Raney came forward to confirm this news. Brenda had this to say,

“We have an extensive portfolio that offers customers a great variety of devices, including the Samsung Droid Charge,” said Brenda Raney, a Verizon Wireless spokeswoman. She declined to elaborate.

While the Droid Charge is not quite the GSII( I own one so I can back this up) she does have a point. Verizon has been releasing Android phones like Gangbusters (Droid Charge,Droid X2,Droid 3, LG Revolution, Etc) and with all reports pointing to the fact that Verizon will be finally getting a Nexus device in the form of the Prime maybe they felt the lineup was too crowded. Either way it seems that all of you out there sitting on your upgrade will have to jump on the Bionic( if that ever drops) or wait for the glut of phones coming to us this holiday season. Let us know what you think about it in the comments below.

New HTC Sense 3.5 Leaked!!!

HTC Sense is one of the many custom Android overlays and many will agree its one of the most aesthetically pleasing and complete of any out there.  From the ease of use to the cohesiveness of the design Sense just works in ways that Touchwiz or Motoblur do not.  Today the new version 3.5 has leaked by XDA China and is proving quite a feast for the eyes.

First up the lockscreen looks to be the updated one from Sense 3.0 which is a good thing seeing how much you can customize it. Alot of the widgets have been updated such as the weather which now covers the whole screen. The homescreen is sporting a cleaner look with two buttons at the bottom, one for apps and one for the phone. The biggest news from this leak will affect many HTC phone owners. When Sense 3.0 released many were disappointed to find out that they would not receive the update due to a dualcore processor being required to run 3.0. HTC will be bringing a smile to many faces with the news that 3.5 will not have any hardware constrictions so the benefits from this update should trickle down to everyone. Screenshots are below, all you HTC users sounds off in the comments and let us know what you think!

BlackBerry To Make Their Devices Android Compatible

Hey RIM, I guess the saying is right: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." RIM may be adding Android App capability to their upcoming devices. Well it's about time you started thinking logically RIM. Although there are many die-hard Blackberry users that swear by them, the compatibility is only available with other Blackberry users. This leaves them out of the loop on a lot of apps considering that BlackBerry App World doesn't have nearly as many apps as Android or Apple. The first device to get the compatibility is rumored to be the QNX-powered Play Book at the end of the year. There is no word of whether or not the upcoming devices will share this same compatibility. My theory is if RIM wants to stay above the rim, they need to put their pride down and realize that they can't make it out here in the phone game with a track ball and a messenger.

Lenovo Ideapad K1 Unboxed

Well I have had a pretty great morning folks. First I tore open my Sony Google TV which is updating right now. Then I got my Lenovo Ideapad K1 and taped an unboxing. Right now I can say only a few things about this tablet. One, It's sexy. A really attractive piece of equipment and by far the one I prefer aesthetically of all the tablets. Two it's snappy, I love the speed and im installing a system update now that has various improvements packed in. Three: It's a Lenovo which means it has a promising future. I don't think rooting is a huge deal for a tablet but I still dream of root access and getting some custom stuff booted up. Until such time we will be giving you a closer look at what this tablet is all about as well as expanding our coverage of Honeycomb as an operating system. Well my Sony Google TV is booting up got to go check that out. Talk to you guys later

The New Girl's Best Friend Is The HTC Bliss

A phone dedicated to the female you say? For the average female, this phone is exactly what they are looking for. Small, quaint, wallpapers and apps that are pink and feathery. The HTC Bliss is to come to Verizon in a few choices of colors unlike the standard black/grey that the majority of Android devices come in. Still unclear if this is device will hold a 3.7-inch or 4-inch screen but it will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and HTC Sense 3.5 with a processor running at 800MHz. Now for the tech savvy female who isn’t in it for the looks of a device, but the quality and ability to perform at the highest of standards, you might want to just wait on the fourth quarter. And as a tech savvy female I don’t see the appeal of this phone. There is rumored schedule release date of October 14, but we’ll find out what HTC really has up their sleeve for this device at their event on September 1.

Samsung Staying One Step Ahead of the Apple Patent Troll!!

I have been covering the ongoing Patent battle in Europe between Samsung and Apple here on our blog and today Apple got a major push. A judge in the Netherlands has ruled that Samsung as violated one of the patents that Apple is claiming, namely patent 2,059,868. This patent has to do with the photo management system and gallery scrolling. The judge has hereby banned sales of the Galaxy S, Galaxy S II and Ace phones. The good news in all of this madness is that the judge did not feel that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 violated any of the patents Apple claimed it did and the sales of this device will not be blocked. Now this sounds like the end of sales of the Galaxy phones right? Wrong! Unlike the ban in Germany the Netherlands court ruling gives Samsung a chance to respond. Sammy is going to keep selling phones just as fast as they have been and will simply push out a software update that will change the photo gallery scolling system just enough to stay ahead of the Apple Patent Troll. I am sure that Apple will come up with something else but with the Dutch judge declaring that a large number of their patent claims are invalid they will have to think up another plan for attack.
