Tabletpalooza!!! Samsung and Lenovo Have A Busy Day!

There was alot of news on the tablet front today with multiple Manufacturers releasing Android tablets at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin. The tablet world is swiftly becoming crowded so lets have a look at what Samsung and Levono are doing to distance themselves from the rest.

Samsung's big tablet news today centers around the announcement of the Galaxy 7.7 Tab. The 7.7 is going to be the updated version of Sammy's original 7" tablet. They have done some serious work to update this tablet and it slots nicely in into their lineup of 8"and 10" that have already been announced or released. The 7.7 will have the first Super AMOLED Plus screen in a tablet, yes that is 7.7" of SA+ display goodness!!! It will be running Android 3.2 Honeycomb, have a 1.4GHz dualcore processor, a 3.2MP rear camera with flash as well as a 2MP front facing unit, and will be not only 7.89mm thick, it will only weigh 335 grams. The 7.7 will have full 1080HD playback, gyro sensor, flash support, accelerometer, and a really cool feature in Universal Remote functionality so you can run your whole entertainment system off your tablet!! There will be support for both LTE and HSPA+ and a 5100 mAh battery will be onboard to provide hours of use.

The Lenovo IdeaPad A1 tablet is also checking in at 7" and will check in at only $199! This tablet will not blow you away in the specs department but I have to admit for the money it has some very nice features. As stated it will have a 7" screen showing off Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has a 1GHz singlecore Cortex A8 chip with a 3MP rear camera and a VGA front facing unit. It has both microSD and full size SD card slots on the bottom and is 10mm think and weighs in at 14 oz. Lenovo has already stated up front that this tablet will not be upgraded to Honeycomb however it does have access to the Android market unlike alot of tabs in this price range. The $199 version will pack 8GB of storage while 16GB can be yours for $249. If a nice smooth well built tablet for a small amount of money is what you are looking for this might just be the tablet for you!

Irene Can't Stop all this Galaxy S II Goodness for AT&T and T-Mobile!!

For months now Android fans in the US have watched and waited. Waited for one of the biggest Android phones of the year to reach our shores and not even Hurricane Irene can hold it back for long! Samsung held their big event today in New York City to unveil three versions of GSII. Kidromulous already reported on the Sprint version here and now for the AT&T and T-Mobile versions.

Thankfully for my typing hand both AT&T and T-Mobile kept it simple in naming this device and just went with Galaxy S II branding for bother versions. The AT&T GSII will be releasing Sept. 18th and will sport all the specs we have come to know and love. The phone will be packing a 1.2GHz dualcore processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 4G HSPA+ radio,8MP rear camera w/2MP front camera,1080p HD video support, HDMI out and 1650 mAh battery. The AT&T GSII will come with a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display which may come as a disappointment to some. Keep in mind that the Infuse already has the 4.5" display and the smaller battery and screen keep the phone down to a very slim 8.89mm.

The T-Mobile GSII is a little harder to write up, it seems that their version was not quite ready for the show and was not able to be demo'd. They did have a version on display and it showed off some very nicely rounded corners and a softer look. The T-Mobile version will be equipped with the larger 4.52 Super AMOLED display, 8MP rear and 2MP front camera combo w/ 1080p HD video support, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1.2 GHz dualcore processor, HSPA+ 4G radio, WiFi calling, and a large number of preloaded apps. There is no actual release date or final specs for weight and width reveled at the show.

Samsung is already showing off numerous docks and accessories for these phones so you will be able to buy gear to your heart's content. The big news here is that this phone is finally concrete and everyone can start checking to see when your contract upgrade is due!!

Samsung Epic 4G Touch Has Emerged

So all the speculation can finally end we know that Sprint will be the first to get the Samsung Epic 4G Touch and that it will be a 4G Wimax variant of the Samsung Galaxt S II.Finally the phone has been announced ahead of tonight's event and it's coming to Sprint's 4G network next month. This monster will pack a 4.52 inch Super AMOLED and the 1.2 GHz Exynos processor. How does this change things for you? Especially with the rumor that Verizon may hold exclusivity rights (at least for a time) to the the Samsung Prime phone. Have you guys considered multiple manufacturers for the Prime? More on these theories and the Samsung event to come.

Samsung to Unveil LTE Goodness at IFA!!!

Samsung has a full house of LTE!!!!

IFA is one of the largest consumer electronic shows of the year. The show is running from Sept 2nd untill the 7th. Samsung as already revealed that they will be making a rather large announcement at this show as we reported here. Now it seems that Samsung has showed it's hand a few days early! Read on to see what is in store for us!

A few days ago I reported that Verizon will not be releasing the GSII along with every other carrier in the United States. Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T will all be releasing versions at about the same time while Verizon will be left out of the party. However it seems that this phone might be too good to pass up. Samsung has announced a beefed up version of the GSII that is not only packing a 4G LTE radio but will also come with upgraded a dual core processor on board. The GSII will be shipping with a Samsung sourced 1.2GHz dualcore processor. This new version will be rocking a 1.5GHz dualcore chipset in addition to the speeds that LTE can deliver. A recent leak showed off a 4G LTE equipped GSII in Korea called the Celox, might this be the phone we speak of or could it be mysterious Samsung Stratosphere or just maybe the Nexus Prime??

The other big announcement is that the 8.9" Galaxy Tab is finally being announced and with LTE radio to boot!! Not only is the new 8" tab packing 4G but it also is going to be shipping with the 1.5GHz dualcore chipset. This tablet will slot in place very nicely between the 7" and 10" Galaxy Tabs and should be a shoo in for a Verizon release with the 4G LTE radio all on board. All that is left to do now is wait and see what Samsung has to say in the official announcement later this week. One this is for sure, this week is looking bright for Android fans!!!

Samsung Staying One Step Ahead of the Apple Patent Troll!!

I have been covering the ongoing Patent battle in Europe between Samsung and Apple here on our blog and today Apple got a major push. A judge in the Netherlands has ruled that Samsung as violated one of the patents that Apple is claiming, namely patent 2,059,868. This patent has to do with the photo management system and gallery scrolling. The judge has hereby banned sales of the Galaxy S, Galaxy S II and Ace phones. The good news in all of this madness is that the judge did not feel that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 violated any of the patents Apple claimed it did and the sales of this device will not be blocked. Now this sounds like the end of sales of the Galaxy phones right? Wrong! Unlike the ban in Germany the Netherlands court ruling gives Samsung a chance to respond. Sammy is going to keep selling phones just as fast as they have been and will simply push out a software update that will change the photo gallery scolling system just enough to stay ahead of the Apple Patent Troll. I am sure that Apple will come up with something else but with the Dutch judge declaring that a large number of their patent claims are invalid they will have to think up another plan for attack.

Samsung Reveals New Phones and Naming System

With IFA rapidly approaching Samsung has leaked both a new naming system for their phones and a whole crop of devices with Gingerbread goodness. Read on for more.

Once of the big issues with Android is name and device confusion. When the average smartphone consumer walks into the store they are greeted with a multitude of devices with all levels of performance. Samsung is seeking to reduce this confusion with their new system. Here is how it is shaping up along with some upcoming phones.

First up is S class. The S stands for Super Smart and will include Sammy's top tier devices such as the Galaxy S II and phones from its popular Galaxy S series.

Next is the R class. Royal/Refined is the adjective assigned to this class and will be a premium balance of power, performance and quality.

The W (Wonder) class is next on the list and will be high quality strategic models. The upcoming phone in this class is one of the more impressive. The Galaxy W will sport a 1.4GHz processor, 3.7" screen, Gingerbread and will be preloaded with Samsung's social and music hubs.

Following the W class will be the M(Magical) class of Galaxy phones. The M Pro will be geared towards young professionals. It will sport a 1GHz processor, 2.66" screen, Gingerbread, 5MP rear facing camera w/ front facing as well. The M Pro will come with Exchange Active Sync and CISCO Mobile and WebEx support for business use. It will also have a full QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad for ease of use.

Finally there will be the Y (Youth) class. These phones will be aimed at young people and will carry entry level specs. The Galaxy Y will have an 800 MHz processor, 3" screen, 2MP camera and WiFi. It will come with a range of social applications preinstalled and Swype keyboard for ease of use among today's youth. There will also be a Galaxy Y Pro with full QWERTY keyboard for those who prefer this form factor. It looks like Samsung will be dropping all kinds of Android in the upcoming months so keep your eyes peeled for this crop of phones!

The Hits Keep Coming for Apple!

Apple has made it a point to strike back against its Android rivals recently with the biggest blow being against Samsung. The Samsung 10" Galaxy Tab has been blocked from being sold in Europe due to a court filing by Apple in German courts. This filing was not without controversy. A Dutch website soon reveled that Apple may have falsified the sizes of the Galaxy Tab in the court filing to make it appear closer to the size of the Ipad. This would mislead the judge to believe that Samsung may have ripped off the Apple design, hence the tablet blockade. It seems Apple just hasnt learned their lesson!

Apple=Dimensions Troll???

Once again the Dutch website Webwereld has released pictures of the Apple filing with the dimensions of a Samsung device not matching real world specs. Apple as filed to have sales of Samsung Galaxy S phones stopped and in the documents the Iphone is pictured side by side with the Galaxy S. If you look at the picture something might strike you as funny. Yes both of these phones are the same size in the picture. In real life however the Galaxy S has a 4" screen compared to the iphone's 3.5. The Galaxy S is also 7mm taller and 2mm wider then the iphone. Yet somehow in Apple's pictures they are exactly the same. Also one more thing to point out, the Iphone is shown with its homescreen while the Galaxy S is shown with its app drawer open. This once again makes the phones look more similar then they are. If this leak is correct Apple is filing misleading documents to get a leg up against competitors. Using patents to slow up other companies is one thing but this should really get Sammy fired up. Stay tuned for who strikes the next blow in this heavyweight bout!!

Samsung Unpacked Event Videos Leak!

IFA is one of the biggest consumer electronics shows of the year. The show is taking place in Berlin and will run from September 2-7. Samsung has alot of big things in the pipeline from tablets to smart phones and now two very mysterious videos have leaked about an announcement at IFA.

The first video about the Unpacked Event features people going about their everyday business in the city. However everyone in the video is holding a glowing device and while you cannot see it the actions make it look like a smart phone. "Sketches of your Desire" is the only quote from the video. It ends with only the comment "Something big is Coming" and the IFA date.

The next video does not shed anymore light on what could be announced. It features shots of a woman and the ocean and sky and once again ends with "Something Big is Coming" and of course the IFA date. So what will Samsung be unveiling at the Unpacked Event? It could be an upgraded version of the Galaxy S II with the 4.5" screen that has been rumored, or the Nexus Prime, a new tablet, or even a new Windows Phone. Maybe all of these! Tune in the first week of September, Samsung has so many new devices coming this announcement can't help but be good!

Samsung Conquer 4G Dropping on Sprint!!

So you are on Sprint and you are looking to get into the smart phone game. You have decieded to go with Android(great choice!) but don't want to break the bank. If this is you then Samsung and Sprint have just the phone for you.

The Samsung Conquer 4G is available both on Sprint and at Sprint stores. It is of course packing a 4g WiMax radio so you will be able to download and surf the web at swift speeds. It is running the newest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread and uses at 1GHz Snapdragon Processor. The Conquer also has a 3.7" touchscreen, a 3.2MP camera and a front facing 1.3MP camera so you can take full advantage of video chat. The phone also has a 2GB SD card but you can swap that for up to 32GB if you want. The Conquer is also 4G hotspot enabled! The phone's design is basic and yes it doesnt pack the best camera or processor. However a few short months ago these were superphone stats and they still are nothing to scoff at. Add to that the fact that the phone is $100 after $50 mail in rebate and you have quite a deal! Better then average stats combined with both a great price and 4G speeds make the Conquer a very smart choice indeed!!

Galaxy S II and Nexus Prime spotted on Samsung Leak??!!

Last week right here on AndroREV we reported on a leaked Samsung roadmap that alluded to both the Galaxy S II and the upcoming Nexus Prime! Both of these phones are two of the most highly anticipated devices dropping this year, so what does this leak entail? Here is all the information.

When this leak first appeared Sammy denied the whole roadmap but the same phones with the same specs are reappearing now with release dates so the leak appears legit. Here is the phone list-

-GT-I8150 (W40) Android 2.3.3, 3.7-inch 480×800 display, HSDPA network support, 4GB of memory, 1.4GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD recording.
-GT-B5510 (W41) Android 2.2.2 smartphone with 2.8-inch display, 800MHz processor, QWERTY keyboard, 3MP camera. -GT-S5360 (W42) Android 2.3.3, 3-inch screen with 240×320 resolution, 2MP camera.
-GT-S5610 (W42) Android 2.3.3, 2.4-inch 320×240 display, 5MP camera, 150 MB of internal memory and support for HSDPA networks.
-GT-I9220 (W43) Android 2.3.3, 4.3-inch 1280×720 Super AMOLED display, 1.4Ghz dual-core processor and 8MP camera. -P6200 (W44) Honeycomb tablet with 7-inch 1024×600 Super AMOLED display, HSDPA support, 3MP rear camera, 2MP front facing.
-P6210 (W44) Honeycomb tablet, 7-inch 1024×600 Super AMOLED display, WiFi, 3MP rear camera, 2MP front facing.
-GT-I9210 (W48) Android 2.3.3, 4.5-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED display, supports 4G networks, 16 GB of memory, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and front facing 2MP, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n and 1750 mAh battery.
-GT-I9250 (W48) Android Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.65-inch 1280×720 Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera.

There are a number of phones on this leak from entry level to super phone but lets examine a couple. The GT-I9220 has all the specs of the Galaxy S II and has a release date listed of October 24-30. With a big announcement planned for the end of the month it looks like the Galaxy S II will be unveiled then to lineup with this release date. The big news from this leak is the GT-I9250. Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.65" 1280x720 Super AMOLED display are all specs that we reported would be on board the Nexus Prime here. Some of you out there may not be please with the larger screen size but remember one of the features of ICS is the removal of physical buttons on your phone. This would allow the screen to be extended to include the real estate occupied by your capacitive buttons. Yes Please!! The other news from this leak that may be disappointing is the release date for this beast. Yes November 28-December 4th is listed as the release date which goes against the rumored October dates that have been floating around . However from the specs in this leak and others the Nexus Prime will be well worth the wait!!

Rumor Mill: Now Network Lives Up To It's Name Get's First Galaxy S II

Well well well what do we have here folks. My personal fav carrier is rumored to be the first to get the mighty Galaxy S II. If you have not heard (we reported it here) that the Sprint Galaxy S II will be branded the Epic Touch. This was bad news for fans of the OG Epic's hardware keyboard but I'm proud to be one of the first journalist to report the so called "Epic II" would actually be the Galaxy S II. Anyhow, August 29, is the big day where things will be unveiled regarding this monstrous series of phones and the rumor has begun that Sprint's Epic Touch will be coming to market on September 9th. That's a full month and some change ahead of T-Mobile's Hercules variant coming October 26 th. Good news Sprint folks. The Now Network always tends to live up to it's name with first... first to 4G anyone.

Samsung adding Cyanogen Creater to Design Team!!

The writing has been on the wall for a while now. Cyanogen has one of the most popular phones and Samsung is obviously a fan. I say this because not only is Samsung a big supporter of the aftermarket community, they are the only manufacturer to take the big step of sending pre-release phones directly to the developer. Samsung delivered Galaxy S II phones to TeamCyanogen before they were released in America so they would have a jump on getting CM7 goodness on to the phone. Now that is what I call aftermarket support!

It seems Samsung liked what it saw as Cyanogen founder Steve Kondik announced on his Facebook page that he is Samsung's newest Software engineer. Steve is very excited for the opportunity to use his ROM skills in the real world but was very clear to state that this job will NOT affect CM7 which he will still be on board for. In an interview with AndroidGuys he stated that he will continue to code for CM7 so no worries everyone benefits from this move! Touch-Wiz looks like it is in for a serious upgrade!!!!

Rotten Apple?? Jobs And Company Lie Through Their Teeth

Has Apple changed Court Documents to Shut Down sales of Galaxy Tab??

We have been covering the case of Apple and its patent war against Samsung on our site here. Now a Dutch site Webwereld has potentially uncovered evidence that may blow this case wide open!

The whole case against the Galaxy Tab rides on the fact that Apple claims Samsung has copied their ipad 2 design. In German court this allows the plaintiff in the case to hold up sales until a hearing has taken place without the defendant even knowing about the case filing. The evidence that Webwereld has unveiled is that Apple's lawyers have changed the dimensions of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in court filings in order to make it seem more identical in shape to the ipad. In the papers submitted the Galaxy Tab's aspect ratio is listed as 1.36 which is very similar to the Ipads 1.30. However in reality the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is much narrower with a aspect ratio of 1.46. This means a difference of 8% and would make the Galaxy Tab 10.1 look much wider then it actually is. If this evidence is true that Apple and its legal team will have some serious questions to answer and Sammy may have just caught a serious break!!

Samsung Celox is Real... told ya!

Celox is A Beast!
Well last week I reported on a certain leaked road map that included a whole slew of Android phones coming with model numbers and all. In response to the publication of said leaked list Samsung made a statement claiming the leak was a fake. Well that afternoon in conversations with some of the folks and on my google plus account gplus.to/MarvinFerrell I immediately responded saying the leaked list was real and after talking to a good and knowledgeable friend of mine it turned out the list was indeed real. So here we are with the GT-I9210 aka Celox and if you go HERE and check the aforementioned leaked road map you will clearly see that phone clear as day. What does that say for the rest of the phones on the list including the one I told you guys to watch the GT-I9250, well I'll let you put two and two together on that one for yourselves. Spec sheet below.

I'll of course keep you posted on this one for sure folks

Jkeene Reports:Something Big Coming From Samsung August 31st!!!

A short time ago the president of Samsung Mobile JK Shin announced that the fabled Galaxy S 2 will be arriving here in the United States in August. Rumors have run rampant about the phone and who will get it first. Now it seems we might finally get an official unveiling. Samsung has just sent out invites to an event in New York City for August 29th. The invite does not specify what will be announced however in the picture there is a II graphic in the lower corner which could very well be alluding to the GS II. Just in case you didn't know the Galaxy S II will come with a dual core processor, 4.3-4.5" Super AMOLED Plus screen, dual cameras and a thin sexy chassis. This announcement is following the same pattern Sammy used to announce the Galaxy S series. Since the phone will be dropping on all major US carriers by having a large event they can unveil all the phones at once. Stay tuned and mark your calenders, something big is coming the 31st!!!

ShabbyPenguin does it again! ClockWorkMod 4.0.1.4 for Samsung Replenish

ShabbyPenguin Cranks Out Mods Like ClockWork....

Well well well what do we have here. ShabbyPenguin has been cranking away at the Prevail/Replenish line of Samsung phones for quite some time now and since we used to be teammates I had the opportunity of following the development of his work quite closely. Shabbymod 0.9 is just huge on the Prevail and lets just say a little birdie told me that 1.0 is on the way. The same little birdie chirped of that being flashable with ClockWorkMod once the kinks get ironed out. Anyhow the issue at hand is the 4.0.1.4 build of CWM for the Replenish and it's just about fully functional. Dalvik wiping and and USB are busted for the moment but fixes are on the way fast. Since it's based of hroark's Prevail build of the 4.0.1.4 CWM these dudes will likely root out the issue (no pun intended) and it get it fully functional in no time. Knowing Shabby like I do you can count on this guy. He is one busy Penguin. Hit this link up and head over to the OP for more information. Don't forget to thank ShabbyPenguin I don't feel I'm being to forward by asking that you hit the donate button. He's got a little penguin to feed after-all. More to come folks.

Samsung drops Galaxy S Plus in England

The Samsung Galaxy S series has been a huge seller worldwide since its debut last year. Sammy it seems is not done with this series yet. The Samsung Galaxy S Plus is a nicely refreshed update that will be releasing on Vodaphone in the UK.

The Plus will come sporting a overclocked Hummingbird processor running at 1.4 GHz, a 4" Super AOMLED screen, 5MP camera around back, and some tasteful cosmetic additions. The Hummingbird has been around for a while. However due to its excellent graphics handling abilities and all around performance it has stuck around and prospered in all types of phones. Samsung also says that this overclocked chip will actually last over 20% longer then the regular Hummingbird. To go along with this improved battery life the Plus will sport a larger 165omAh battery to make sure that this phone lasts all day and night. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is invited to the party as well and will have the usual Touch-Wiz overlay. The phone is available now for free to anyone who signs a two year contract on Vodaphone.

Samsung Roadmap Proves Ice Cream Sandwich Close At Hand ?

Ice Cream! Get Your Bowls People....
If you've never visited the site Samfirmware some of the more interesting rumors and leaks regarding good ole Sammy can be found there. You may recall me sharing an article I wrote based on their information on the bendable Galaxy phones Samsung is supposed to be cooking up. What I found for you today is a list of Samsung devices to come including some of the most spectacular specs I've ever viewed and none other than Ice Cream Sandwich. If you don't know rumors of late are abound that the new version of the Android Mobile Operating System will be available in time for the release of the iphone 5. Since the iphone 5 is already outclassed by most of the Android phones around right now this is a good thing for us Androidians. The advantage of the Android Eco System is that the competitors development life cycle is too slow.

A Patent Troll Named Apple

Apple Successfully Blocks Sales of Samsung Galaxy Tab in Europe.

Apple has always been a company that is not afraid to go after anyone they feel is infringing on their products. However recent actions have put the entire electronics world on edge. Between January 2008 and May 2010 Apple filed 350 cases with the US Trademark office alone. They sued HTC in 2010 for 20 patent infringements, Amazon in 2011 for the use of the term "App Store", even New York City in 2008 for attempting to file a trademark for a "stylized apple logo". Now its Samsung's turn.

The Apple vs. Samsung battle began in April of this year when Apple filed a complaint that a range of Samsung products from the Nexus S to the Galaxy Tab copied the shapes and designs of Apple products. This was of course followed swiftly by a countersuit from Samsung. Over the next few months litigation has been traded back and forth between the two technology giants. Earlier in the week Apple struck a major blow by getting a German court to block sales of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 to the ENTIRE continent of Europe with the exception of the Netherlands, all without Samsung defending itself. In Germany a plaintiff must only prove that an infringement occured to begin an injunction, with no requirement to inform the other party so Sammy woke up to find itself behind the 8-Ball. Samsung is now not allowed to import any more Galaxy Tabs into Europe or it will face fines of $350,000 and the imprisonment of its management team! Samsung quickly responded in its defense:

"Samsung is disappointed with the court’s decision and we intend to act immediately to defend our intellectual property rights through the ongoing legal proceedings in Germany and will continue to actively defend these rights throughout the world. The request for injunction was filed with no notice to Samsung, and the order was issued without any hearing or presentation of evidence from Samsung.
We will take all necessary measures to ensure Samsung’s innovative mobile communications devices are available to customers in Europe and around the world. This decision by the court in Germany in no way influences other legal proceedings filed with the courts in Europe and elsewhere."

I for one understand Apple's need to defend its products. Mobile electronics is a fast moving and cut throat field, a company needs to defend their technology. However this might be a case of biting the hand that feeds you, Apple procures screens, electronic componants, and memory from Samsung. Yes they are suing the company that makes the parts for the devices Apple sells. Patents were invented to keep other companies from stealing technology and ideas not to be used to slow down competitors and waste time and energy in useless court proceedings. I am sure this is not the last we have heard from this battle and whether or not this ruling will affect sales of the Galaxy Tab in other areas of the world is not known yet. What is known is Apple is now moving on to other competitors, namely Motorola and their Xoom tablet. At this rate every company that makes a square shaped mobile device with a touch screen had better watch their back, Apple is coming for you!

Verizon Galaxy S 2 previewed in Korea??

The United States of Android is waiting with bated breath for the release of the Samsung Galaxy S 2 on all carriers and the leaks have been slow in coming. The T-Mobile Hercules and the Sprint Within have broken cover and made their blurry cam debut recently. The Verizon Function and the AT&T Attain have yet to be seen but IT Tong a Korean site has dropped information on a Korean variant that just may be the Verizon Function.

IT Tong is reporting that this unnamed phone will sport some beastly specs. First and foremost is a 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus screen, 4G LTE Radios, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, an 8MP camera around back with a 2MP camera on the front, and 16GB of internal storage. One of the big questions is which processor will each version of the GS2 bring to the table. If you are a regular reader of this blog you will know that we have been reporting that the Verizon Function will come with not a Samsung sourced processor but a Qualcomm chip set. Guess what chipset this phone has? A 1.5 GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 Snapdragon Dual Core processor! The phone also has a larger 1750 mAh battery on board to help feel that hungry 4G radio.

The only bad news here is that the 4G radio is operating on an 800 MHz LTE frequency while both Verizon and AT&T are on 700 MHz bands. This phone may be Europe bound where this LTE radio would feel right at home. However it would not take much to make this phone 700 MHz friendly so keep an eye out for the Function to show its self off much clearer soon!
