Nvidia Quad-Core to Power Next ASUS Transformer Tablet??!!

Fire up the rumor mill kids! Word on the street is that the upcoming sequel to the very popular ASUS Transformer tablet will be the first to pack the coveted quad-core NVIDIA Kal-El processor! The Transformer tablet has been selling like crazy thanks its 10.1" screen, NVIDIATegra 2 processor and unique docking station with full QWERTY keyboard. Now it seems that ASUS and NVIDIA have found a way to improve this already excellent tablet!

Wait till They Get A Load of Me!

The Quad-Core Kal-El project was announced by Nvidia at the 2011 Mobile World Congress. Even though the name of the chip will most likely be Tegra 3 the Kal-El name as stuck. So what does the Kal-El bring to the party you ask? The processor will be a quad core ARM Cortex-A9MP Core, with speeds of up to 1.5GHz. It will have support for true 3D stereo sound and an ultra low power mode that will allow the Kal-El to be even more power efficient then Tegra 2. Kal-El will support video output up to an amazing 2560x1600. What does this mean to the end user? How about 5 times the power of the Tegra 2 chipset and advanced graphics support to boot. The Kal-El chip will allow programmers to render animations, lighting and physics in real time, and not have to rely on pre-programmed animation as they do now( check out how well it does this in the video below and keep in mind that the video is showing 30% reduced power from the end result).

NVIDIA has already confirmed that this chip is out in the wild and being implemented in forthcoming devices. They have also already confirmed that Kal-El would be ready for use and release by August. Well here we are right in the middle of the named month so what do you say to the best processor out there combined with the most unique Android tablet on the market? YES!!!!
